WANG KLAI KANG WON PALACE
Graciously built beside Hua Hin beach by King Prajadhipok, Rama 7, Wang Klai Kang Won served as
an alternative summer palace for His Majesty and Queen Rampai Phanee.
Designed with a European architectural feel, the original name was "Suan Klai Kang Won" and "Phra
Tamnak Piamsuk". meaning "Tha garden Far From Worries" and "The Royal Residence Full of
Happiness".Besides the royal residence and beautifully manicured omamental gardens full of all kinds
of plants and objects d'art from Java, one must also be sure to see the beautifull collection of shells
in the shell museum.
THE ROYAL WAITING ROOM AT HUA HIN RAILWAY STATION
This is one of the oldest railway stations in Thailand, and its most striking feature is the unique Royal
Waiting Room in Thai architectural style.The waiting room was moved from Sanam Chan during the
reign of King Vajiravudh, Rama 6.
HUA HIN NIGHT MARKET
Definitely to be counted as Hua Hin's most colourful nightly attraction.Every evening throngs of both
Thai and overseas visitors will come to stroll around and take their pick from the many foodstalls
offering all kinds of freshly-prepared goodies. These include Thai dishes, fresh seafood, Thai desserts
and Indian roti bread.Besides the culinary delights, many other stalls offer visitors a host of memorable
souvenirs.
WATCH THE SUNRISE AT MOUNT KHAO HIN LEK FAI
This is a favourite vantage point to gaze out over the whole expanse of the town and bay of Hua Hin.
The beauty can be taken in from three different viewing areas.
An equestrian statue of King Prajadhipok, Rama 7, also stands here.Located about 3 kilometres west
of Hua Hin town centre, the best time for viewing is in the early morning as the dawn breaks.
KHAO TAKIAB MOUNT VANTAGE POINT
Khao Takiab or "Chopstick Mount" is a large mount which juts out to sea and is bedecked with a temple
atthe top. It is located about 2 kilometres south of the town of Hua Hin. In and around the temple, is
quiet, cool and breezy.
There is a figure of the goddess Kwan Im, and from the vantage point at the top, one can gaze out
over the picturesque views of Hua Hin Bay and the surrounding area.There are all kinds of good
accommodation and restaurants on offer to visitors.
KHAO KLAILART
This sleep hill is located near to Khao Takiab Mount and lends its name to the temple that stands on it.
The temple belongs to a Buddhist denominaition originally founded by King Mongkut. Here, you can find
a collection of large Buddha images dating back several hundred years. It is open for anybody who is
interested in visiting.
HAD SUAN SON PRADIPHAT BEACH
This beautiful stretch of beach is 8 kilometres south of Hua Hin, and takes it name from the "son" or
casuarina pine trees which line the beach. Calm and peaceful, It is well cared for by the local army camp.
There are plenty of restaurants, as well as accomodation in the form of guest houses, hotels and self
catering bungalows.
KHO SING TOH ISLAND
About 800 metres off the coast of Suan Son beach is the tiny island of Koh Sing Toh. It is very popular
with fishermen and divers, and boats can be rented from Khao Takiab Village.
HAD KHAO TAO BEACH
This small beach, at the foot of Khao Tao Hill, can be reached by travelling about 13 kilometres south
from Hua Hin along Petchkasem Road. It is another tranquil spot, with its main feature being a large
Buddha image which turns and faces out to sea.
SARN PHRA PRHOM SHRINE
Situated on Khao Mahachai hillock about 5 kilometres south of Hua Hin, this shrine was built over 60
years ago.It was restored by Dr.Phutsadee Jitchum and work was completed in 1999. Built in a style
that allows it to perform as a tool for teaching the Buddhist doctrine, for example the surrounding
heart-shaped fence symbolises kindheartedness, the shrine is open daily for believers to pay homage |
