KUIBURI NATIONAL PARK
is located along the Thailand/Myanmar border in southwest Thailand and is 969 square km.
Kuiburi National Park was established in 1999 and is now a well-protected haven for much of Thailand's
rare wildlife.
Kuiburi National Park is an important habitat link in the Kaeng Krachan Forest complex , a corridor that
adjoins Kaeng Krachan National Park to the north and a vast tract of uninhabited forest acorss the
Myanmar border to the west.This area along the Tenasserim mountain range form the largest remaining
intact forest habitat in Southeast Asia.
The Park has one of the largest herds of Asian elephants in Thailand. It's also home to other wildlife
such as tigers,leopards,dusky langur,asiatic black bear,Malayan sun bear,and four species of hornbill
as well as stump-tailed macaques,Malayan tapir,sambar deer,two species of barking deer , Monitor
lizards ,hundreds of bird and butterfly.
The park has established serveral eco-tour packages that allow curisous visitors to explore the nature
beauty of the park and see its wild animals. |
